Uchi is hands down one of Austin's most deserving top restaurants, and I make it a tradition to come here every year for my birthday because they always make me feel so special. The balance of textures and flavors is truly next level. Kanpachi Crudo, the sweetness of the fish paired perfectly with tangy pickles (3/5) The Walu Walu is always a standout--tender fish with the best yuzu jam (5/5). The Hama Chili was another highlight, combining fresh fish with sweet orange and a subtle chili kick (5/5). The Foie Gunkan was rich and indulgent, a saucy foie gras explosion (5/5). Kinoko Cap (a mushroom-topped sushi roll I devoured too fast), it was a solid 4/5. The Machi Cure remains a favorite--salty yuca chips, smoky fish, fresh pear, and crunchy almonds, all beautifully innovative (5/5). The Wagyu Carpaccio was cheesy and good but didn't quite fit with the other flavors of the night (2/5). For dessert, the Chocolate Bar blew me away with its combination of textures--crunchy, creamy, and indulgent (5/5). I'm already excited for next year! The shareables consistently outshine the nigiri, handrolls, and maki in my opinion. But no matter what I order, it's always a 10/10 birthday dinner.

Great experience and fantastic service! You don't come here to get really full. You come here to try a really unique culinary experience. Sit back and enjoy! Outdoor patio is shaded and has mist fans. The sun does peak through in the evenings.

Uchi in Austin is an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. The moment you walk in, the elegant and romantic ambiance sets the tone for a memorable evening. The customer service is impeccable; our server, Karen, was attentive, polite, and offered excellent menu recommendations. We began with the Brussels sprouts, charred in Thai chili sauce--absolutely divine and a perfect 10 out of 10. For a cool tasting, we tried the Hama chili. While it was flavorful, it didn't quite stand out for me, so I'd rate it a 7.5 out of 10. The sasami yaki, a hot dish, was outstanding; the chicken was perfectly cooked and juicy, earning a 10 out of 10. A complimentary lobster curry was a delightful surprise and was also a solid 10 out of 10. The sake Karai sushi roll, featuring raw salmon, was one of my favorites and definitely a must-try, also scoring a 10 out of 10. The shishito peppers, charred to perfection, were another standout, a 10 out of 10. For dessert, the honey toast was exceptional--so good I almost ordered another. If you're into sweets, this is a must-try. I gave it a 10 out of 10. Overall, Uchi offers a fantastic dining experience and comes highly recommended with a perfect score of 10 out of 10.

A5 wagyu maki is delicious!! Egg yolk melts in my mouth. So good! I loveee the sea bream and scallop nigiri! The eel had too much sauce making it too sweet. I enjoy the ginger/wasabi garnishes. The kinoko nabe (mushroom rice dish) is a good portion so it definitely fills you up but sadly, I thought it overall was too salty and the mushroom pieces were too sour. There were a lot of flavors going on. We also added the gyutoro inside. The chef gave us a complimentary dish to celebrate our anniversary. It was great-it had sashimi and crisps. Uchi has both omakase and a la carte options, and we opted for a la carte. The atmosphere wasn't what I expected from a $$$$ restaurant (it was my first time here). I thought it would be a lot smaller but the space was packed! Very loud atmosphere, which I didn't enjoy. I much prefer smaller, intimate dining like in other omakase places. You can self-park or enjoy complimentary valet.

Another AMAZING experience at uchi. I came here for my partners birthday very eager to explore more of the menu. We had the spicy crunchy tuna roll, sake kari, negitoro, and a lobster specialty roll. All were amazing but the negitoro was by far our favorite. As far as nigiri goes my favorite is the bincho but the sake toro was also packed with flavor. If you're not a huge fan of sushi the karage was again a favorite of ours - incredibly crispy bites of delicious chicken. Of course we saved room for dessert and if you're not getting the banana cake you're doing it wrong! This place has so many delicious options and the service was extremely welcoming. I forgot our waitress's name but she was incredible. This has to be one of my favorite restaurants in Austin!

This restaurant was highly recommended by my coworker. She lives out in Houston and she said it originated out in Austin so I made sure that I had to try it. There's lots of amazing food and reservations are hard to come by and it was great to see how busy it was. Luckily we had reservations. We almost didn't make it in time with a buffer. Luckily they have complementary valet here. There's the awesome spot and we ordered a lot of different things to share. Everything was about six pieces or so and we got a good variety of different sushi and different dishes that we are able to try. There were too many delicious things we couldn't narrow down and that means we need to come back. The team here was wonderful and is definitely a great meal to start off my trip here in Austin. Everything was amazing and I can't wait to come back here the next time I'm in town.

I've heard so many great things about this place and needless to say I wasn't disappointed. Easily one of the best sushi joints in Austin. The service from top to bottoms is unbelievable. Each member of the staff is so attentive and nobody skips a beat. The ambience is warm and welcoming. I had been told it's sooo hard to get a table because they are always booked up, but my fiancé and I were able to get a table fairly quickly at happy hour. We started with cocktails. The Umegave and the Kara Kyuri. Both were fantastic. Since we arrived at happy hour I asked the very amazing server to give us a tasting. So they treated it like omakase. With round after round of the most delicious offerings. Every plate was amazing. We ended with the Pecan Ice Cream Sandwich. I should've got 2! To end, I was throughly amazed and blow away at the level of service and the quality of each dish.

I love good sushi. Though Uchi's sushi was good, I wouldn't go back. It just wasn't for me. The flavors were too much and it felt like it was trying too hard. I just wanted good sushi. Prices are on the higher end. Quality was also on the higher end. The desserts were also trying very hard but I found the Coconut Tapioca perfectly to my liking. I appreciated that I wasn't negatively surprised by any textures with the seafood. However, though I love mashing together flavors, I didn't appreciate the way Uchi did with most of the dishes we ordered - especially the rolls. Our favorite was the Unagi - the only thing I'd order again. If you prefer simpler sushi - stay away from the rolls or maybe just go to a more traditional sushi restaurant.
